A 10-year-old girl passed away on Monday, but not before saving the lives of two toddlers, according to a report by Fox59.

The girl, Kiera Larsen, was fatally run over by a runaway SUV while playing in the yard with a one-year-old child and a two-year-old, both who she instinctively pushed out of the way of the rolling vehicle.

The SUV struck Larsen, pushing her through a fence. Paramedics took her to a nearby hospital, where she later died.

Alissa Jenkins, the mother of the toddlers, one-year-old Adison and two-year-old Emma, said, “She is truly a hero. She will forever be my kids’ guardian angel. She saved both my daughters’ lives. These are my two kids that I have and both of them could’ve been gone in an instant and she stepped in and took over and did what she knows best to do — and that’s to protect those around her.”

It is unknown how the 1999 Mercedes-Benz began rolling in reverse down the dirt driveway. Authorities are looking into the vehicle to find out why it was rolling, and to determine whether a malfunction caused it to roll.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Kiera Larsen’s family to help them with expenses.
