Texas Governor Warns Flood-Stricken Region to Brace for More Life-Threatening Storms

Texas Governor Gregg Abbott warned residents of the state to expect more storms to pose a danger to parts of central Texas over the next 24-48 hours. Abbott made the comments at the start of a Sunday press conference held in Austin to inform residents of the latest news regarding the devastating Independence Day floods that have resulted in the deaths of nearly 70 people.

ABBOTT: Texas Flood Victim Numbers Expected to Rise as Campers Don’t Come Home

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the number of people who are reported missing as a result of the Independence Day weekend floods is expected to increase in the coming days. The governor explained that many adults and families who camp in tents and RVs along the rivers may not be reported missing by their families until they fail to return home after the extended holiday weekend.

Videos Show Devastating Impact of Deadly Independence Day Flood in Texas

Videos shot by Breitbart Texas illustrate the total devastation left in the wake of the deadly Independence Day Flood near the Texas Hill Country city of Kerrville. The flood caused by a massive stalled rainstorm along the Guadalupe River led to the deaths of at least 27 people. More than 20 young girls from a riverside youth camp are still missing.

Video posted on social media by Governor Greg Abbott shows a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter aircrew rescuing a woman from a tree as the deadly flood waters of the Guadalupe River raged below. The overnight flash flooding has already claimed the lives of more than a dozen people, and at least 23 children are reported missing from a private Christian girls’ camp near Kerrville, Texas.
