New Benghazi Testimony: Spontaneous Attack Explanation 'Indefensible'

Newly gathered classified testimony on Benghazi shows claims that the attack was the result of a spontaneous demonstration are “indefensible.”

According to Fox News, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said five CIA employees testified that “five mortars rained down on CIA annex over 90 seconds during the attack–with three direct hits.”

The three direct hits “[killed] two former Navy SEALS and severely [injured] a diplomatic security agent and CIA contractor.”

Lawmakers view the testimony as further evidence that the attack was premeditated, due to “the skill and planning necessary to use mortars with such accuracy.” They also believe then-CIA Director David Petraeus knew these things “almost immediately” once the attack was under way. Yet Petraeus downplayed this information “during his September 14, 2012 briefing to Congress.”

Rep. King said the attempts to paint Benghazi as a spontaneous attack are “indefensible.”
