A teenager has been charged on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack in the UK as police across the country are investigating allegations of terror related activity. This week alone there has been police investigations in Cardiff, the West Midlands and Bedfordshire.
It comes on top of news that British women are active in vicious police gangs in Syria and even run brothels where children are sold and kept as sex slaves.
Syed Choudhury, 19, was one of the targets for police in dawn raids which took place in Cardiff last week as part of a national operation, according to the Mirror.
Five men were held after the operation in the Welsh capital after they were alleged to have handed out extremist literature. Their homes were searched by counter terrorism police.
Four of the five men were released on bail last Friday but Choudhury from Grangetown, Cardiff, has been charged with the support of proscribed organisations and in assisting in the preparation of an act of terrorism.
Although the investigation is not believed to be of immediate concern to the threat of public safety in this country, the teenager has been remanded in custody and will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.
As westerners are revealed to have joined militants fighting in Syria and Iraq with Isil militants, there are increasing concerns about attacks taking place on the streets of Britain.
Prime Minister David Cameron has been in Turkey for talks with senior government officials over sharing intelligence to counter Brits joining Isil fighters by flying first into the moderate Muslim country.
One particular threat which police are taking very seriously involves a plot to kidnap and behead a female Police Officer in an IS style execution video.
But the immediate threat was ruled out by investigators after initial concerns following a threatening phone call made to police in the West Midlands.
The anonymous call was made on Monday night and the region’s forces were put on high alert. Police officers were banned from going home for two hours while security advice was given, which including not wearing uniform outside of work even if going to or from shifts.
West Midlands Police said a 31 year old man had been questioned about such a plot but he had been ruled out of inquiries. However, he is still being held on immigration related matters.
The police are still investigating the phone call which was made to check on any potential leads or links to other plots.
In another part of the country, a 35 year old was arrested, this time in Luton, Bedfordshire.
The suspect was detained in the town by Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism officers on suspicion of fundraising and inciting terrorism overseas.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said three residential addresses, including two in east London, were being searched and the man being held under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. It is understood it is connection to Syria-related allegations.
