Following news that the Alexandria baseball field attack was carried out by a committed leftist, NRATV tweeted a video of Wayne LaPierre saying the “violent left” will face “freedom in the hands of the American people” if they attempt to bring terror “to our communities, our neighborhoods, or into our homes.”

The comments were drawn from LaPierre’s 2017 CPAC speech.

He said, “Make no mistake, if the violent left brings their terror to our communities, our neighborhoods, or into our homes, they will be met with the resolve and the strength and the full force of American freedom in the hands of the American people.”

LaPierre’s statements on Americans’ ability to defend themselves from the “violent left” via the tools of freedom dovetails perfectly with comments made by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) during a June 18 appearance Breitbart News Sunday.

Franks told Breitbart News that the Alexandria attack is indicative of a devolving society that has now fallen to a point “where the militant left is out there to the extent that they are willing to shoot people.” Franks also stressed that the attack teaches the importance of making sure law-abiding citizens can possess the tools they need for self-defense. He said, “I think there are very few high-profile incidents in the media lately that have argued more against removing guns from law-abiding citizens than the one that we’ve just been through.”

Franks noted that the attacker does not represent law-abiding citizens, and he explained that “the only thing that kept [the attack] from being a mass slaughter… was the fact that there were good guys with guns there to take the guy down.”
