115 Migrants Held by Smugglers for Ransom Rescued in Ciudad Juárez

Mexican police in Ciudad Juárez rescued a group of 115 migrants being held against their will by human smugglers earlier this week. Police were tipped off to the incident by an anonymous report. The police raid resulted in the arrest of three human smugglers — one, a Central American migrant from El Salvador.

U.S. Gang Members Arrested in Tijuana with Bazooka, Meth

Two U.S.-based street gang members working for the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) were arrested in Tijuana over the weekend wearing cloned uniforms and carrying a light anti-armor weapon (LAW). Both were turned over to investigative personnel from the federal attorney general’s office.

Stray Cartel Gunfire Kills 11-Yr-Old Boy in Cancun, Says Family

Stray gunfire from cartel gunmen in the Mexican resort of Cancún struck and killed an 11-year old child. The stray round came from cartel gunmen who had opened fire on an adult male target. Officials transported the child to a local clinic where he died several hours later.

Mexican National Busted with 40 Pounds of Meth in Arizona, Say Police

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office seized 40 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop north of Phoenix earlier this month, resulting in the arrest of a male Mexican national. The initial disclosure was delayed by a week due to a follow-up investigation.

Sinaloa Cartel-Linked Meth Trafficker Sent to Prison in Montana

A Sinaloa Cartel-linked trafficker and Mexican citizen was sentenced to 57 months in a federal prison in Billings, Montana, last week after pleading guilty in January to possession with the intent to distribute approximately 34 pounds of methamphetamine. Two other defendants have pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

Police in southern California announced on Friday the arrests of two men linked to the Mexican-based Sinaloa Cartel. The men allegedly operated a drug-trafficking cell in Apple Valley, California. The multi-agency investigation also led to the seizure of 500 pounds of methamphetamine worth $1.25 million dollars.

Mexican Cartel Connected to Heroin Trafficking Bust in Oklahoma, Say Feds

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma announced the indictment of 29 alleged members and co-conspirators of a drug trafficking organization with ties to the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG). The 29 are accused of participating in a criminal enterprise to possess and distribute heroin and perform money laundering.

Cartel Attack at Mexican Funeral Home Leaves One Dead near Arizona

Four cartel gunmen stormed a funeral home late last week in the Mexican border city of San Luis Río Colorado, opening fire on mourners for a male homicide victim who was gunned down the day prior. Friends of the deceased returned fire, wounding one of the attackers. In total, one mourner was killed and two were wounded and along with the cartel gunman.

Cartel Gunmen Kill Four Honduran Migrants in Juárez Drug House

Cartel gunmen raided a drug house in the border city of Ciudad Juárez and killed four Honduran migrants. The cartel gunmen who stormed the property and opened fire early Friday morning. In addition to the two Central American migrants, two other unidentified victims were wounded and transported to a local hospital in very serious condition.

Mexican police rescued two U.S. citizens who were kidnapped in Mexico. Ministerial Police in the border city of Nogales, Sonora, freed the kidnapped Americans during a police rescue operation. The operation resulted in the arrest of two kidnappers.

Cartel Gunfire in Cancún Kills 6-Year-Old, Wounds Parents

A local 6-year-old in Cancún was killed after being struck by stay cartel gunfire as the child was preparing to enter her house with her parents this week. An unidentified male who was the intended target died at the scene.
