Cartel-fueled violence in El Paso, Texas’ sister city Juárez continues at an alarming rate with 889 killed during the first seven months of 2019. The northern Mexican state of Chihuahua registered 1,536 homicides total over the same period.

Mexican Feds Capture 13 Cartel Hitmen in Border State

Elements of the Mexican Federal Ministerial Police arrested 13 suspected hitmen during a raid at a cartel safe house in Cajeme, Sonora, Tuesday. Those apprehended are believed responsible for at least four recent homicides, including a 3-year-old boy and his father.

Seven Sinaloa Cartel Gunmen Arrested in Mexican Border State

Elements of the Mexican Army and investigative personnel from the Chihuahua State Police captured seven Sinaloa Cartel gunmen during a joint operation spanning two raids Friday. The seven are being held on various charges to include murder and are also under investigation for possible involvement in the execution of four municipal police officers earlier in July.

Feds Seize 300 Pounds of Fentanyl, Heroin, Meth at Arizona Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized more than 300 pounds of heroin, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and small amount cocaine last weekend. The seizures came in four separate incidents at the Port of Nogales on the Arizona-Mexico international border. The officers arrested one Mexican national and four U.S. citizens and seized an estimated $4.2 million in drugs.

Six Sinaloa Cartel Operatives Arrested in Mexican Tourist Hotspot

Mexican police arrested six Sinaloa Cartel operatives including a suspected “plaza boss” late last month in the tourist hotspot of Playa del Carmen. The arrest came during a combined military and police operation. The Secretary of Public Security waited until this week to announce the news of the arrests which took place on June 29.

Another Narco-Music Singer Killed in Mexican Border City

Cartel violence in the border city of Tijuana continued this week as cartel gunmen murdered a Mexican narco-music singer at an upscale outdoor mall. A total of 145 homicides have been registered in Tijuana during the month of July as of late Friday night bringing the total killed in 2019 to, 1,244.

Mexican Border State Cops Kidnapped by Cartel Gunmen Found Murdered

Officials found the remains of the four kidnapped municipal police officers on Wednesday morning. A team of cartel gunmen in the Mexican border state of Chihuahua kidnapped them on July 14. The four municipal police officers responded to a disturbance call at “La Presa El Tigre” — the Tigre Dam — when the group of cartel gunmen carried out the kidnapping.

Mexico-Based U.S. Citizen Admits Smuggling 450,000 Fentanyl Pills

A U.S. citizen who resided in the Mexican border city of Tijuana admitted to smuggling more than 450,000 fentanyl pills from that country into the United States. The drug smuggler made the confession during a guilty plea before a federal judge in a U.S. District Court. The alleged criminal activity occurred during a nine-month conspiracy from February to October 2018.

Three Members of Mexico’s New National Guard Arrested for Kidnapping

Police arrested three members of Mexico’s newly formed militarized National Guard police force for the alleged kidnapping of a 14-year-old teen in the state of Guerrero. Authorities took the three National Guard members into custody along with an adult civilian male. The arrests came during a joint operation by investigative anti-kidnapping personnel from the state prosecutor’s office of the states of Mexico and Guerrero.

Cartel gunmen kidnapped four municipal police officers in the Mexican border state of Chihuahua late Sunday night in a rural area south of the municipality of San Francisco de Conchos. Tijuana Tops 1100 Homicides in 2019

The cartel war in Tijuana continues with homicides topping 1,101 for 2019 (217 in June). The totals are slightly down in comparison to 2018 when 1,201 deaths were registered in the first six months. There was a total of 2,518 murders registered in 2018.

Cartel Attacks in Northern Mexico Leave Five Dead Including Two Cops

Cartel gunmen in the Mexican border state of Sonora carried out two separate attacks within 30 minutes this past Saturday. The attacks left five dead, including two police officers and three civilians. The gunmen wounded an additional three police officers and a civilian during the two attacks.

The cartel violence in the Mexican border state of Sonora continues with the discovery of a lifeless body of an unknown male in the municipality of Cajeme, this Monday morning. A team of cartel gunmen in the popular resort city of Cancún ambushed members of the Quintana Roo State Police. The officers traveled along a busy street in a private non-duty vehicle this past Tuesday night.  The brazen attack left one police officer in serious condition and wounded other officers and administrative staff who were also in the vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries. A civilian riding on a motorcycle nearby was also wounded by stray gunfire.

210 Pounds of Fentanyl, Meth Seized at Arizona Border Checkpoints

At least 210 pounds of hard drugs like fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin were seized in Nogales, Arizona, over the past week by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The seizures occurred during multiple vehicle inspections worth an estimated total of $1 million.
