The college student who was reported missing during a spring break trip to South Padre Island has been found dead. Police reported the finding of Jordan Britten’s body in a marshy area near Schlitterbahn. Police earlier reported they had found narcotics in the car Britten had left in the Schlitterbahn parking lot.

Britten’s body was found on Thursday after having been missing for nearly a week. He was last seen Friday night or Saturday morning, as was previously reported by Breitbart Texas’ Sarah Rumpf.  Police reported his body was found between Schlitterbahn and Chapel by the Sea, according to a report by KWTX News.

During the investigation, it was revealed Britten had an unreported quantity of narcotics inside his car. The drugs were found during an inventory of his possessions as a routine part of the police investigation into his disappearance.

A relative of Britten’s, Kristan Brown asked for prayers for their family as they “try to accept the news of Jordan’s passing,” on a Facebook page set up to try to consolidate information about the search for Britten. The Facebook page garnered more than 8,000 posts in the short period after it was established earlier this week.

One South Padre Island resident, Vanessa Marie, posted, “My deepest and sincere condolences to the family.. I’m proud of how our small community of south padre and port isabel came along to help look for this boy.. Sadly its not news we had expected .. I ask that god give his family the strength to continue and get justice for him.”

South Padre Island Police were not available for comment when Breitbart Texas reached out for additional information about Britten’s death. No information has yet been released as to the cause of death or whether any foul play was involved.
