During an interview aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of “CBS This Morning,” former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who served as Secretary of Defense under Presidents George W. Bush and Obama stated that if there is any negotiation over Syria, “Russia will be at the table, and, based on the way things are right now, probably in the chair.”

Gates said, “I think that Putin certainly has reasserted Russia’s role. It’s pretty clear that any negotiation on Syria, if there ever is one, Russia will be at the table, and, based on the way things are right now, probably in the chair.”
