Sharpe on Racist Letter Sent to TAMU’s Sumlin: ‘Not Surprised’ — ‘Racism Is More Prevalent Than We Want to Believe’

Fox Sports 1 “Undisputed” co-host Shannon Sharpe said Friday that he was “sad, disappointed, but not surprised” that someone sent Texas A&M University football coach Kevin Sumlin a letter with a racial slur following his Aggies’ meltdown loss against UCLA Sunday.

“Racism is more prevalent than we want to believe, that we want to admit to,” Sharpe stated.

He added that he wants a “serious discussion about race in America” because everything is still “slanted in favor” of white people.

“Hopefully at some point in time, we sit down and have this serious discussion about race in America, and how it’s still slanted in favor of one. And you can try and convince me all you want to, talk about we got a black president, and LeBron’s making this and Oprah’s worth that. I don’t care. There’s a long, long way we need to go. But this is unacceptable,” concluded Sharpe.
