FS1’s Sharpe Laments Johnny Manziel Getting Workouts While Kaepernick ‘Can’t Even Get a Call’ — ‘So Disappointing’

Friday on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed,” co-host Shannon Sharpe reacted to troubled former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel holding a workout at the University of San Diego’s pro day in front of 13 NFL teams, saying it is “so disappointing” to see Manziel get another chance while National Anthem protester Colin Kaepernick does not.

Manziel, 25, is looking to get back in the league following an exit due to substance abuse, while Kaepernick, 30, recently held a private workout in Texas and did not alert any NFL teams. The former San Francisco 49er signal caller is suing the NFL for a perceived blackball.

“It’s just hard for me to believe, Skip, that teams will bend over backwards, they are willing to give guys that’s done so much, they’ll bend over backwards to give those guys an opportunity,” Sharpe stated. “But there’s this other guy …”

He added, “Why is it that Colin Kaepernick can’t even get a call, you know, ‘You have to change the offense.’ We just saw Josh Johnson. He got signed by the Raiders. Josh Johnson was originally drafted by Jon Gruden his last year, but Josh Johnson hadn’t played meaningful football in almost seven years. He gets a call, and poor Kap, boy, ‘He can’t play.'”
