During Monday’s White House Press Briefing, White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah stated the White House believes that Hamas bears responsibility for the violence in Gaza and said Hamas is engaging in a “gruesome and unfortunate propaganda attempt.”
Shah said, “Well, as I said earlier, we believe Hamas bears the responsibility. Look, this is a propaganda attempt. I mean, this is a gruesome and unfortunate propaganda attempt. I think the Israeli government has spent weeks trying to handle this without violence. And we find it very unfortunate –.”
He added, “Again, we believe that Hamas is responsible for this.”
