Scarborough on Brexit: ‘It Could Be Worse — We Could Be Great Britain’

Friday, MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough compared the situation in the United States to Great Britain, telling Americans “it could be worse,” noting things are worse over there because of the chaos Britain is facing with Brexit.

“[T]here’s a philosopher who had a great insight that I saw yesterday on television. It was Patrick Starr, who told SpongeBob when SpongeBob thought that he was ugly and depressed, and Patrick Starr said, ‘Don’t worry about being ugly, SpongeBob, people will want to be around you because it will make them feel better about themselves, right?’ As always, Patrick Starr, brilliant,” Scarborough explained. “And you know exactly where this is going. Here we are feeling badly about ourselves, badly about our government, and thinking it could get no worse. And how humiliating this is, to have a government this much in disarray. But then we think like Patrick Starr, ‘Ah, but we could be Great Britain.'”

“It could be worse,” he added. “We could be Great Britain.”
