Sanders on Ocasio-Cortez ‘Concentration Camps’ Remarks: ‘I Didn’t Use That Terminology’ – We’re Keeping Kids ‘in Deplorable Conditions’

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “OutFront,” 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) reacted to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) statement that the U.S. is running “concentration camps” on the border by stating that while he “didn’t use” such wording, “we are locking up children in deplorable conditions,” and he has “a lot of respect” for Ocasio-Cortez.

Sanders said, “I didn’t use that terminology. You know, and again, I have a lot of respect for Alexandria. I think she’s doing a fantastic job. What I will tell you, is that we are locking up children in deplorable conditions, I mean, keeping kids there for weeks in places that are not meant for kids, where children are being traumatized. And that is absolutely unacceptable.”
