Barrasso on Coronavirus Relief Bill: ‘We Need All Hands on Deck’, ‘It Needs to Be Bipartisan’

As lawmakers are considering a coronavirus relief bill, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) on Friday stressed the importance of providing immediate relief to American families amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Barrasso described the “Phase 3” COVID-19 bill a “rescue operation for our country,” calling for “all hands on deck” from both Republican and Democratic senators.

“This is a rescue operation for our country,” Barrasso told “Fox & Friends.” “We need immediate relief for people all across America. To me, that’s direct support as well as dealing with the medical component of this. I think we need all hands on deck, the more senators involved in discussing it the better. We have a number of task forces who are working on it. We are working straight through the weekend. We need to go big, we need to be bold on this, and it needs to be bipartisan, Brian.”

He continued, “We have two crises right now: We have the health care crisis and the economic crisis. And until we get this medical crisis behind us, we’re not going to be able to do what we need to do to recover our economy.”

Barrasso also emphasized how employees are out of work and how businesses have had to shut down amid the outbreak.

“They need immediate relief and direct support now,” he added.
