Watch: Colin Farrell Must Find Love Or Else in ‘The Lobster’ Trailer

Say what you will about the upcoming film The Lobster – but you can’t say it’s not original.

Colin Farrell stars as David, a man distraught after his wife leaves him for another man. But in the peculiar dystopian society in which David lives, he must now travel to “The Hotel,” where single people are forced to find a partner in 45 days or risk being transformed into an animal and set loose in “The Woods.”

“This is my brother,” David tells the hotel staff in the trailer, referring to the dog he brings with him. “He was here a couple of years ago, but he didn’t make it.”

The Lobster premiered in competition at this year’s Cannes film festival, where it drew rave reviews for its unique take on dating and relationships in the modern era.

In addition to Farrell, the film boasts an impressive cast: Rachel Weisz, Lea Seydoux, John C. Reilly, Ben Whishaw and Olivia Coleman co-star.

“Have you thought of what animal you’d like to be if you end up alone?” Coleman’s hotel manager asks David.

“Yes, a lobster,” David replies.

“A lobster is an excellent choice,” the hotel manager says.

Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth, Alps) wrote and directed the film.

The Lobster hits the New York Film Festival on September 27 before opening overseas on October 16. Check out the trailer above.
