A provocative online petition is calling on Emma Watson — the Harry Potter star know for her feminism and pro mass migration liberal activism — to spend a week in a camp with migrants to show they are good for her feminist cause.

At the time of writing the petition is approaching 9,000 signatures, and demands Ms. Watson spend a “holiday” in the so-called Jungle camp in Calais without her bodyguards.

It reads: “In order to show how safe current migration is to Europe, particularly regarding the cause of feminism… Emma Watson should spend a week’s holiday in a Calais migrant camp, without guards of course, to show how safe, and how pro feminism these migrants are.”

The wealthy, Cambridge-educated 24-year-old British actress from Oxfordshire rose to fame with her role in the Harry Potter films. In recent years, however, she has become better know as an outspoken proponent of third wave feminism and as a “Goodwill Women’s Ambassador” for the United Nations (UN).

Ever since she was invited to give a widely praised speech at the UN on the topic, she has become a poster girl of modern feminism. Her simultaneous embrace of female equality, mass migration and the misogynistic non-western cultures brought with it, is widely seen as typical of left wing activists today.

In this context, the petition can be interpreted as an expression of frustration with the contradictions of modern liberal feminism, rather than merely a personal attack on Ms. Watson.

The issue of Europe’s recent migrant influx and the safety of women was brought sharply into focus following the mass sex attacks on German women by migrants and refugees on News Years’ Eve. The feminist reaction to this grotesque display of male violence was largely to defend misogynistic migrant cultures and deflect the blame onto a non-existent western “rape culture”.

Ms. Watson is currently in Davos, Switzerland, alongside the world’s liberal elite at the World Economic Forum annual conference to promote her new “He For She” UN-backed campaign for gender equality.

She was strongly criticised on social media last week for “exploiting” the death of fellow Harry Potter actor Alan Rickman to push her feminist agenda.
