Officials in the German municipality of Rottenbuch have denied rumours that prostitutes were being bussed into a troubled and violent asylum home at taxpayers’ expense.
A rumour had been circulating in the town of Rottenbuch that taxpayer money was being spent on prostitutes for sex-starved migrants in an asylum home at the former Ammermühle hospital. The officials of the town attempted to quash the rumours on Friday at a council meeting, but the home would, only hours later, be the scene of a riot between rival migrant groups, reports Merkur.
During the council meeting on Friday Social Democratic Party (SPD) faction spokesman Max Martin jokingly asked whether the rumour of prostitutes being paid for by the municipality was true. District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiss joked back that there was no allocation for prostitutes in the official budget. The jovial attitudes may have changed after a riot took place at the asylum home Monday night.
According to police, the riot started after an altercation on a bus between several drunk migrants including a 29-year-old Somalian who violently struck a fellow asylum seeker. After getting off the bus the Somali, joined by a friend, attacked security guards who proceeded to use pepper spray on them.
The Somali pair began shouting and attacked responding police officers. Police were able to subdue them and were remanded in custody expected to be charged with aggravated assault.
Several violent incidents have taken place at the Ammermühle home over the past year including attempted arson. In late October, a Syrian migrant pulled a knife on a security guard at the home after breaking the “no smoking at night” rule of the home.
Three Pakistani migrants were also accused of attempted arson in December of last year after setting a fire in a toilet. The three were later deemed to have not been responsible because a judge in the case did not believe they lit the towel dispenser on fire intentionally but rather had been smoking in the toilet. The judge sentenced them to 100 hours of community service and six months probation.
While the rumours of the state paying for prostitutes may have been untrue, many migrants do use their state money to pay for sex. In Austria, migrants, who had become addicted to easy and legal access to sex, even tried to counterfeit money to pay the women. The counterfeit cash was so poorly fabricated that the prostitutes alerted police who arrested the migrants.
Another migrant in the UK didn’t have the skill to counterfeit his own cash and was caught pleasuring himself outside a Primark because he’d also ran out of money to hire prostitutes. “I used to have money and I paid for sex, but I don’t, I’m sleeping on the streets,” the Iraqi told a British court.
