A little boy and his mother discovered a 28-year-old message in an Original New York Seltzer bottle along a beach in Fort Bragg, California on New Years Eve. Now, Heather Baird and her son Ryder Goggin, 5, are searching for the person who wrote that message.

“Hi my name is Chris,” the letter in the New York Seltzer bottle read. “I am 10 years old and in the 5th grade. I live in Sacramento. Call me when you find this to let me know where it washed ashore.” The letter was dated September 5th, 1988 and included a phone number and area code.

According to local ABC news affiliate ABC7, the mother and son called the phone number but it was disconnected. When they searched public records in the Sacramento library for that number, they discovered that someone who had once used that number had passed away, but attempts to get in touch with that person’s family were unsuccessful.

Baird and her son have started a #FindChris hashtag on social media hoping the message will find the man who was once the little boy who wrote that letter and “find out some really good things about where his life went,” Baird told ABC7.

In January last year, a little girl’s letter to Heaven, which was addressed to her deceased dad, arrived in Northern California from 435 miles away in Southern California. The letter was penned on a star-shaped balloon and landed in the hands of some kind-hearted Samaritans who reciprocated her message of love with some of their own, sending her a care package to show that Heaven was listening and possibly her dad as well.
