Video: US Weapons Meant for Kurds Dropped into the Hands of ISIS

The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) has released a video claiming American-made weapons meant for air drop to Kurds in Syria were accidentally dropped to ISIS instead.

The Daily Beast reports that the video was posted on YouTube with the title “Weapons and munitions dropped by American planes and landed in the areas controlled by the Islamic State in Kobani.” It shows an ISIS fighter opening boxes of grenades and other munitions with English writing on the boxes and/or the munitions themselves.

It was also posted to Twitter on the account aamaq twitt.

On October 1, Breitbart News reported that the Iraqi Air Force had accidentally dropped food, water, and ammunition to ISIS, instead of Iraqi troops. Iraqi Defense Committee member Hakim Al-Zamili MP said, “Some pilots, instead of dropping these supplies over the area of the Iraqi army, threw it over the area that is controlled by ISIS fighters.”

And because ISIS fighters use the same weapons and equipment as their Iraqi counterparts, the supplies enabled ISIS fighters to slaughter the besieged Iraqi forces.

If the latest video of ISIS holding American grenades and munitions does, in fact, confirm an air drop gone wrong, might it be a testimony to the difficulty of precision war-fighting without boots on the ground?
