George Will to CPAC: Democrats in 2016!

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Conservative columnist and Fox News contributor George Will touted the benefits of divided government in his remarks to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Thursday.

“There is a case to be made,” he said, from a conservative point of view, that if Republicans win the White House in 2016, Democrats should control “at least one house of Congress.”

The remark sent murmurs through the audience, and a few booed.

Will had argued that divided government was proof of the wisdom of the American electorate, adding that Washington would be in far worse shape if Republicans did not control the House today.

He later defended his statement about Democrats by noting that Republicans, too, could abuse their power.
