Rep. Blake Farenthold: Eric Holder Would Be in Jail Were He a Regular Citizen

At U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s appearance before a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee, one Congressman refused to ask Holder any questions because the Obama Cabinet leader has refused to be straight with Congress.

When it was time for Representative Blake Farenthold (R-TX) to question Holder on his refusal to supply Congress with requested documents and to forthrightly answer questions in committee hearings, the Texan instead lambasted Holder.

When it came his turn, Farenthold said, “I’m committed to maintaining the Constitutional balance of power and the authority that this legislative branch has, and I just don’t think it’s appropriate that Mr. Holder be here.”

He continued, saying, “If an American citizen had not complied with one of the Justice Department’s subpoenas, they would be in jail and not sitting here in front of me, testifying.”

From there, Farenthold yielded the rest of his time to his colleagues on the committee.

Farenthold is the same Congressman targeted by leftist millionaire Bill Maher with his “Flip a District” campaign to oust Republicans from Congress.

When the comedian announced that he may be raising millions to oust Rep. Farenthold from Congress, the Texan reminded voters that he doesn’t answer to cable TV comedians but only to the voters of his district.

“It’s said that you can tell a lot about someone by who opposes them,” Farenthold said in March. “In the case of liberal pundit Bill Maher–a man who called America’s actions cowardly in the wake of 9/11 and who mocked WWII veterans who wanted to visit the monument built in their honor–I wear his disapproval of me as a badge of honor.”

The same hearings made news when Eric Holder got testy with Committee Chairman Rep. Louie Gohmert.
