Ted Cruz to South Carolina

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is heading to South Carolina this weekend for a series of events with local activists, his latest visit to a key state for 2016 that comes after recent staff changes prompted buzz about a likely presidential bid.

“Sen. Cruz is looking forward to returning to the Palmetto State this weekend for events with women, youth and local GOP groups to get out the vote for Republicans in 2014, and unify conservatives around efforts to stop President Obama’s amnesty, undo Obamacare, strengthen national security, and restore our constitutional liberties,” Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier told Breitbart News.

Cruz will be hosting a round table and question-and-answer session with Republican women’s group Palladian View in Spartanburg, SC, as part of that group’s round table series on Saturday morning, then will head to Clemson University in Clemson, SC, to tailgate with students and supporters there. He’ll then head to Spartanburg to hold an ice cream social with the Spartanburg GOP and Greenville GOP on Sunday afternoon.

“Senator Cruz’s message of opposing President Obama’s amnesty and fighting to repeal ObamaCare resonates well in South Carolina,” South Carolina GOP chairman Matt Moore told Breitbart News. “He certainly fires up our grassroots activists like few elected officials can.”

Cruz is among the field of potential 2016 presidential candidates and has surged onto the scene in the U.S. Senate since he was first elected in 2012.
