President Barack Obama urged Americans to join a protest led by gun control groups to wear the color orange today to highlight gun violence.
“We cannot accept our level of gun violence as the new normal,” Obama wrote on Twitter with the #wearorange hashtag. “We must take action to prevent this from happening again and again.”

But as Obama took the stage for a commencement speech at the Air Force Academy in Colorado this morning, just minutes after his tweet, it was clear that he did not follow his own directive.
The group has turned June 2 into National Gun Violence Awareness Day, urging more Americans to demand action against gun rights.
“The color orange symbolizes the value of human life,” the statement reads on the protest website.
About 100 liberal groups have joined the protest created by the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.
