Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump tells conservative activists at the “Road to Majority” conference in Washington, D.C. he’s ready to chart an optimistic path for America.
Trump also used his speech to go after presumptive Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, saying it’s the first time ever the President of the United States endorsed someone who is under a criminal investigation and that she’s disqualified from being president because she refuses to say radical Islam.
“Together friends, we will chart a new optimistic course for America. We will put America first,” Trump told the packed ballroom inside the Omni Shoreham Hotel on Friday afternoon. “I’m with you 100 percent” he said to the crowd, gathered at the conference hosted by the Faith & Freedom Coalition and Concerned Women for America.
“We want to uphold the sanctity and dignity of life,” Trump stated as the crowd of conservatives cheered. “Marriage and family as the building blocks [of] happiness and success.”
“We’re going to bring our nation together,” he added, saying it’s divided right now.
He said it’s important to “work to ensure Israel’s security.”
“All of us need to confront together the threat of radical Islam,” Trump stressed.
“Hillary Clinton — or as I call her crooked Hillary Clinton, crooked as they come — refuses to even say the words radical Islam,” he said, adding, “This alone makes her unfit to be president.”
The crowd applauded in agreement. “She wants a 500 percent increase of Syrian refugees to come into our country.” The crowd then booed, and he said, “We have enough problems right now.”
At that moment, Trump was interrupted by two groups of protesters. An audience member ripped down one of their signs and the crowd changed, “Trump! Trump! Trump!” and “USA-USA-USA.”
“It’s such a shame, by the way these are professional agitators,” Trump responded to the outburst, saying they’re “sent here by the other party.”
“We have to take care of the people that are here,” he added about the refugees. “We have to temporarily stop this whole thing with what’s going on with refugees.”
“We have to take a time out,” he added, and use that money “to take care of our poorest Americans.”
Trump said he would appoint judges who are pro-life, and would protect the rights of all Americans. He added that it’s time to restore the rule of law and “restore dignity to the office of Secretary of State, which it hasn’t had in awhile folks.”
“Hillary’s agenda of taxation…she wants to raise your taxes tremendously,” Trump said, again going after Clinton. “Her policies will be a crushing blow to all poor people in this country.”
He said Clinton’s education, economic, trade and immigration policies “will plunge our poor African American, Hispanic communities into turmoil.”
“I’m going to turn things around,” he said of the job the Democrats have done in communities.
“First time ever, by the way, the President of the United States endorsed somebody under criminal investigation,” he commented and the crowd laughed.
“I will be working for you,” Trump said, arguing Clinton is controlled by donors. “I’m working for you.”
