President Barack Obama is further ridiculing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, accusing him of having “wacky ideas” and not being serious enough to be president.
“I don’t think the guy’s qualified to be president of the United States and every time he speaks my opinion is confirmed,” Obama said during a press conference in Laos after nine days overseas.
Trump was asked by a reporter about the controversy swirling around Obama’s arrival in China, citing Trump’s assertion that the president was “humiliated.”
“I suspect you think that was overblown,” the reporter suggested.
“Yes,” Obama said, scoffing slightly, insisting that he reception to Asia had been “terrific.”
“This theory about my reception and my rebalance policy is based on me going down the short stairs in China, yes, I think that is overblown,” Obama said. “And I think that any reasonable person, certainly any person in the region would be puzzled as to how this became somehow indicative of the work we have done here.”
The president accused the American people and the media of normalizing Trump’s “completely unacceptable” behavior by “grading on a curve.”
“The most important thing for the public and the press is to just listen to what he says and follow up and ask questions to what appear to be either contradictory or uninformed or outright wacky ideas,” Obama said.

After nine days of foreign travel and meetings with diplomatic leaders around the world, Obama stated that being president was “serious business.”
“You actually have to know what you’re talking about and you actually have to have done your homework and when you speak, it should actually reflect thought out policy that you can implement,” he said.
