In a statement given to The Washington Post that appeared in an article by Michael Scherer published online Wednesday, Brett Doster, a strategist for Roy Moore’s U.S. Senate campaign, ripped the Post and told Scherer not to bother seeking out the campaign again.

Scherer contacted the campaign seeking documentation to support a claim the campaign had made a day earlier at a press event on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. At the event, Moore campaign aide Ben DuPré called into question the address of Leigh Corfman, the woman who had alleged Moore tried to engage in a sexual encounter with her when she was 14.

Doster replied to Scherer’s request by describing the Post as “a worthless piece of crap” and suggested the Post not to ever reach out to the campaign again.

“The Washington Post is a worthless piece of crap that has gone out of its way to railroad Roy Moore,” Doster wrote. “There is no need for anyone at the Washington Post to ever reach out to the Roy Moore campaign again because we will not respond to anyone from the Post now or in the future. Happy Thanksgiving.”

Moore faces Democrat Doug Jones in an election on December 12 for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
