Namath Says Jets Leadership is 'Deceptive'

Things just cannot get much worse for the New York Jets. The team does not have a legitimate NFL starting quarterback on its roster and, now, the most iconic player in franchise history has emerged with fresh criticisms about the direction of the organization.

The former quarterback told WFAN’s “Boomer and Carton Show” that he is not on speaking terms with Jets leadership and that he has not been on good terms with owner Woody Johnson for a number of years.

Namath added, “you’ve got to be honest. I want to be honest, and I think they’ve beendeceptive. … They’re continually telling us how good they are. Lastyear, going into the season, the ‘best team Rex [Ryan] has had.’ Oh, please.”

This is not the first time that the legendary quarterback has spoken out about the Jets, however, it could not come at a more tenuous time for the franchise that looks to be among the worst in the NFL this season.
