Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White apologized on Sunday for tweeting on Saturday that the jurors that found George Zimmerman not guilty of all charges should “go home tonight and kill themselves.”
He said he understood his tweet “was extreme” and he “never meant for the people to do that.”
“I was shocked and upset about the verdict,” he said. “I am sorry.”
Unlike other athletes and celebrities who deleted their tweets, White did not delete his tweet, which is still on his Twitter timeline.
I understand my tweet last nite was extreme. I never meant for the people to do that. I was shocked and upset about the verdict. I am sorry.
