Tebow Participating in Non-QB Drills in Practice

As the New England Patriots open camp in the midst of the Aaron Hernandez murder trial, Tim Tebow was participating in non-quarterback drills on Friday, leading to speculation that he may get some playing time at tight end.

After releasing Hernandez, who is in jail after being charged with the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd, the Patriots are thin at a position they thought would be one of their most strengths. Rob Gronkowski, the other superstar tight end, has been hampered by multiple surgeries and injuries.

Tebow was catching passes and also lined up with backs and receivers in another drill, according to reports.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick, when asked if Tebow would exclusively play quarterback, had previously answered, “We’ll use Tim where ever we feel like is best for the team.”

At the least, the buzz surrounding Tebow is a welcome distraction for a team that probably does not want to answer questions about Hernandez during camp.
