Urologist: March Madness Crazy Time for Vasectomies

A Texas urologist claims that March Madness does wonders for his vasectomies business. It’s not exactly clear whether he means men undergo the surgery at higher rates during the NCAA basketball tournament or if the hype surrounding the tournament affords him free advertising by making questionable claims to reporters to get his name in the newspapers.

Dr. Grant Fowler reasons that the surgery forces patients to take a few days off. With recuperation coinciding with scores of basketball games, patients deliberately schedule the procedure at this time of year. Dallas-Fort Worth’s CBS affiliate reports that some such medical businesses offer free pizzas with the vasectomies.

Fowler tells the media outlet that his business went down went the economy got back up. Does this explain the publicity stunt?
