American Meb Keflezighi Wins Boston Marathon Year After Bombings

One year after the tragic Boston Marathon Bombings, American Meb Keflezighi, 38, won the Boston Marathon, becoming the first American man to do so since 1983. The crowd chanted “USA!” as Keflezighi crossed the finish line in 2:08.36.

Rita Jeptoo of Kenya won the women’s race and set a course record in doing so with a time of 2:18:57 on Patriots’ Day.

The 118th running of the Boston Marathon started with a moment of silence for the three killed and 264 injured during last year’s terror attack.
