Keyshawn Johnson famously said, “Give me the damn ball!” “Give me the damn ring!” apparently sums up his girlfriend’s attitude.
The couple’s April fight, which resulted in a the former NFL receiver’s arrest, has been dismissed as a legal matter by the Los Angeles County district attorney. Smacking a cell phone out of one’s hand, apparently, isn’t the same as smacking another human being–at least as far as the law is concerned.
As first reported by TMZ Sports, police in Calabasas, California arrested Johnson on misdemeanor charges after a dispute with an ex-girlfriend that allegedly ended in a smashed cell phone and a hurt hand. The argument allegedly centered on the pair’s marriage, or lack thereof one. The former Jets receiver made $20,000 bail on April 21.
Neither Johnson nor his ex called the cops. A third party, hearing the dispute on the cell phone before Keyshawn battered it to death, alerted the police of the domestic dispute.
