Despite raking in Port St. Lucie since his call up to High A-ball, Tim Tebow will not get a chance to appear in the major leagues for the Mets this season.
That disappointing verdict coming down from Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson:
I ask Sandy if he could see Tebow promoted to Mets this year, he does not foresee it and noted with a smile his exit velocity is impressive

In 60 at-bats at the High A-ball level, Tebow has amassed seventeen hits, three homeruns, and owns a .283 average. Those numbers represent a huge jump from his numbers in Low A Columbia. That shows that Tebow has obviously improved while since his promotion. Which begs the question: why not continue to promote him to see if the improvement continues?
The Mets are currently thirteen games out of first and nine-and-a-half games back in the Wild Card. In short, they’re not very good. Add on to that the fact that Tebow will turn 30 next month. So, if the Mets aren’t going to call him up to see if he can play now, when will they? After he’s another year on the wrong side of 30?
Alderson could get overruled on the Tebow issues as the season goes on. If the Mets are playing meaningless baseball in September and Citi Field has row-upon-row of empty seats. Tebow could find himself in the major leagues.
After all, money talks.
