President Trump tweeted out his congratulations to top NFL Draft pick Nick Bosa on being picked by the San Francisco 49ers, and offered him a bit of encouragement to keep his chin up.

On Saturday morning, Trump took to Twitter to say, “Congratulations to Nick Bosa on being picked number two in the NFL Draft.”

The president added, “You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big Talent! San Francisco will embrace you but most importantly, always stay true to yourself. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump’s advice to “always stay true to yourself” is likely an allusion to the kerfuffle Bosa got in over the deletion of his old social media tweets. Several of which were critical of Colin Kaepernick, and some which were supportive of President Trump.

Early in April, the Ohio State defensive end noted that he felt the need to delete his conservative-leaning social media posts because he feared that liberals would use the tweets to attack him and cause a distraction from his bid to join the NFL.

Despite deleting the tweets, it appears Bosa was proven right when columnists like USA Today’s Nancy Armour did just that by using his social media posts as an avenue to attack the player.

Bosa took some heat in the past for supporting the national anthem and opposing protests against it, especially by former NFL player Colin Kaepernick. Bosa had also posted tweets in support of President Trump. Bosa has since said he will keep his politics to himself from now on and apologized if his past tweets upset anyone.
