Report: Ethiopia, Led by Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Committing ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ in Civil War

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch (HRW) published a joint report on Wednesday in which they alleged Ethiopia’s federal government has perpetrated “ethnic cleansing … crimes against humanity and war crimes” in northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region as part of a civil war between Addis Ababa and the separatist militia known as the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

Ethiopia Accuses ‘Criminal’ W.H.O. Director Tedros of Backing Violent Rebels

Ethiopian Army Chief of Staff Berhanu Jula gave a televised address on Wednesday in which he denounced Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a longtime member of the Ethiopian government but currently head of the World Health Organization (WHO), as a “criminal” for supporting the Tigray separatists who are fighting against the government in Addis Ababa. Berhanu called on Tedros to step down from his position at WHO, which did not immediately respond to his allegations.
