U of Georgia Hosts ‘Healthy Masculinity’ Event

The University of Georgia is hosting a “Taco’bout it Tuesday” event that encourages male student to reflect on their masculinity. The university claims its goal is to “provide a supportive space for male-identified students to engage in critical thought” about topics like “the aesthetics of manhood,” while also stating that “gender is a social construct.”

Study: Transgender Americans Don’t All Identify as ‘Liberal’

According to a new study published this summer, transgender Americans are far less liberal in their politics than most would assume. The study, which clashes with other research, notes that 48 percent of transgender respondents identified as independents. One possible reason for this according to researchers is that transgender people may be further to the left than the term “liberal” allows for.

UC Santa Barbara Teaching Assistant Under Fire for Saying Men Are Not Women

A teaching assistant at UC Santa Barbara has come under fire this summer over posts she has made on social media about transgender people. In one post, she said “There is no such thing as actually being transgender (a male woman or a female man). Believing so is a delusion. I will not validate such a decision by validating terms like ‘trans people.’ Interpret that as you will.”
