Dem Senators Vote to Keep WH Tours Closed

While President Obama’s administration has suggested that the Secret Service is to blame for the closure of White House tours, the onus now falls on the Democrat-controlled Senate. On Wednesday, Democrats rejected a Republican attempt to reopen the White House tours in a straight party-line vote. 54 Democrats voted against reopening the tours. None have voted to defund President Obama’s golf trips.

The amendment, sponsored by Senator Tom Coburn, required 60 votes to pass. It would have shifted $6 million from state-based National Heritage Areas programs to help correct supposed shortages at the White House. Democrats claimed that it was more vital to keep open the Elvis Music Boat tour in Georgia and community concerts in Delaware at a winery, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Obama White House continues to promote the notion that sequestration hurts everyone. That isn’t true. It doesn’t hurt President Obama. He just tries to make it hurt everyone else.
