Four More Murdered in Chicago in 24 hours: No Threat of Riots

While the nation waited to see if there would be violence resulting from the acquittal of George Zimmerman, four more people were murdered in Chicago on Friday and Saturday, one of them an eight year-old-girl. In the Austin area of Chicago, there were two murders on Friday. Eight-year-old Gizzell Ford was killed by stranglulation and blunt trauma; the girl’s grandmother was being investigated. In a second incident, 24-year-old Tommie Bates was stabbed to death.

Two other men were shot to death over Friday night. Jeremy Morris, 25, was shot to death as he sat in a car in the Bronzeville neighborhood around 11 p.m. Fernando Sanchez, 25, was shot about 2 a.m. in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

There have been no reports of incipient riots over the incidents.
