Desperation: Spielberg, Katzenberg Dump $1 Million Each into Nasty, Pro-Obama Super PAC

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, who made a movie a few weeks back decrying the influence of millionaires’ money in the political process, should be outraged to learn of the latest money flowing into the current election cycle.

Except the money in question is flowing toward President Barack Obama, and the people writing the checks don’t have the last name Koch. So expect the outrage meter to register a big, fat zero.

Director Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg doubled down on their commitment to President Barack Obama’s reelection last month, contributing $1 million each to super PAC Priorities USA….

Priorities, which got off to a slow start last year, has gradually been winning over Democratic donors in recent months.  In addition to Katzenberg and Spielberg, other big entertainment industry givers include Morgan Freeman (who recently narrated an ad for Obama) and talk-show host Bill Maher.  Both Freeman and Mahr have donated $1 million.

For those with short memories, Priorities USA may be the nastiest Super PAC in the country, with its most famous ad blaming Mitt Romney for the death of a woman who suffered from cancer.
