Barbara Boxer Still Wants to Disarm Americans

Less than 24 hours after a major terror attack by radical Muslims left 14 dead and at least 17 injured in San Bernardino, California Senator Barbara Boxer took to social media to seek to take guns away from law-abiding citizens.

On Twitter, Senator Boxer’s account posted a series of tweets that referenced the attack as a “mass shooting” but made no reference to terrorism. In her posts, Sen. Boxer appeared to blame the weapons themselves for the deadly attack.

Sen. Boxer, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, also posted a statement on her Facebook page yesterday in which  she claimed “we do not yet know the motive for this horrific attack.” She did not mention the names of the killers, Sayed Farook and Tashfeen Malik; at the time of her post, police had already named Sayed Farook as a suspect.

Boxer wrote:

I am heartbroken by yet another senseless mass shooting in our great country and in my beautiful state. My heart aches for those who tragically lost their lives, the injured, and their families.

I want to thank the medical personnel who are working to save lives and all the brave law enforcement officers who rushed to the scene and are working to catch these despicable killers.

While we do not yet know the motive for this horrific attack, we cannot stand by while our neighborhoods are turned into war zones. It is not enough for us to keep lamenting these tragedies. We need to take action now to protect our communities from the epidemic of gun violence in this country.

Boxer is a consistent and passionate advocate for curtailing gun rights. After the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementry School in 2012, Boxer advocated putting National Guard troops in schools.
