Barack Obama said that while “anti-immigrant sentiment” was not new to politics in America, it was wrong, citing the Irish and Italians that once suffered stereotypes similar to Hispanics today. He also dismissed the suggestion that somehow immigrants in the past were all legal, and used a straw man argument to suggest that opponents of amnesty were racist.

As Donald Trump supporters left the U.S.S. Iowa on Tuesday, one Hispanic Trump supporter, Jorge Herrera, started a pro-American chant, and other Trump supporters echoed him. Herrera seemed annoyed that some protesters were calling Trump a racist and started to yell back at them, and the crowd of Trump supporters joined in chanting, “U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A!”

CDC: Nearly 1 In 4 People In U.S. Will Be Hispanic By 2035

The Hispanic population in the coming two decades is projected to reach 84,543,000, or 22.8 percent of the population, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Currently the Hispanic population makes up 17 percent of the U.S. population at 56,754,000.

The race/ethnicity section of the form was optional, and conveyed no benefit to the registrant – there was nothing for Bush to gain by deliberately misrepresenting himself as Hispanic, even if it could be proven that he did this intentionally. There wasn’t any political benefit to doing so, either, and there is no evidence that Bush ever sought to (absurdly) turn his “Hispanic” voter registration into a political asset, since the form lay dormant in the archives until surfacing this week.
