Dan Rather: Fox News, Trump Feud ‘Suspicious’

Former “CBS Evening News” anchor Dan Rather called the feud between Donald Trump and the Fox News Channel “suspicious” on Wednesday’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC.

Rather explained that he is “suspicious” of the two because Trump and Fox News Channel’s Roger Ailes are both very smart and it works out “to their mutual benefit.”

“I’m a little suspicious of this battle between Trump and Fox,” said Rather. “What we do know is that Trump is really smart, as I said when he started this run, don’t underestimate him. And Roger Ailes, whether you agree with his politics or not, another smart guy. Whether they’ve gotten together and planned this out or not, it works to their mutual benefit. Fox can argue, ‘Listen, we don’t give sweetheart deals over the Republican candidate,’ and Trump can say, I tell you I’m independent and I’m really independent. Look at even Fox.'”
