Harris: ‘The Odds-on Favorite Is That You Will Be Able to Keep Your Doctor’ under Medicare for All

During a town hall on MSNBC on Tuesday, 2020 presidential candidate Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) stated that under a Medicare for all system, “the odds-on favorite is that you will be able to keep your doctor” because 91% of doctors in the U.S. are in the Medicare system.

Harris began by expressing support for Medicare for all and discussing her record taking on drug companies and insurance companies.

She added, “And by the way, you know, there are some who say, well, you know, but if you change the system, is it going to mean I don’t have access to my doctor? And that’s an understandable point. We like our doctors, those that we know. We’ve been seeing them for years. Well, 91% of the doctors in the United States are in the Medicare system. So, the odds-on favorite is that you will be able to keep your doctor.”
