Police Investigating Woman’s Claim She Infected Men with HIV

A Georgia woman who claimed on social media that she was HIV-positive and infecting men with the virus is being investigated by the police.

Officers with the Americus Police Department received several reports about the viral Facebook Live video on Friday, and have identified the woman in the video as Brandi Yakeima Lasiter.

The video, which goes on for roughly one minute, shows Lasiter allegedly rambling on about the list of men she infected, along with their girlfriends and wives.

She also bragged about getting revenge on the men she allegedly infected. Americus Police Maj. Herman Lamar said one of the men named in the video filed a communication harassment complaint with the police department.

Lamar added that the investigation is ongoing and police need to first prove Lasiter is HIV positive. It is a felony to transmit HIV on purpose in Georgia.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) notes that Georgia is among the top five states reporting HIV diagnoses in 2017, the latest data made available from the agency.
