Starting Thursday, April 9 at 7 a.m., doctors employed by the University of California student health centers will protest over claims of Unfair Labor Practices (ULP) for a week, inviting students, fellow UC employees and concerned community members to join them and flying a banner over select locations.

Strikes will occur at all ten UC campuses, according to a release from the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD). The UAPD reports that it has notified the UC Office of UC President Janet Napolitano.

One grievance is an alleged shortage of doctors. Critics say that there is a greater doctor-to-patient ratio in California’s prison system than in the UC system. However, students are not required to use university-funded medical resources and may have access to, or prefer, outside medical services.

UC doctors also went on strike earlier this year as part of ongoing labor disputes.

Napolitano is currently under fire for proposed tuition hikes.
