‘America Was Never Great!!!’ Protesters Greet Trump in Sacramento

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald J. Trump was greeted by several dozen demonstrators outside the Sacramento International Jet Center on Wednesday evening, where he was due to speak. “America Was Never Great!!!” read one sign. Others shouted “Shame on you!” at attendees.

According to Breitbart News’ Michelle Moons, who was on location, the protesters were attempting to intimidate those arriving at the rally. Law enforcement formed a human wall between the demonstrators and the Trump supporters.

Trump fans had a presence, too, including a giant red “Make America Great Again” hat:

The protest dwindled to roughly 15 demonstrators as the rally event began.

Nearby, in Davis, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was also holding a rally, as he attempts to come from behind to defeat Hillary Clinton — and, possibly, to deny her the nomination.

The two latest polls in the Golden State have each shown Sanders within 2 points of Clinton — a statistical dead heat. Clinton leads among early voters, however, who historically have formed two-thirds of California primary voters. Election Day turnout will determine the winner.
