George Galloway has announced he is to stand for Mayor of London next year. The former MP will run in next May’s election in which current mayor, Boris Johnson, will stand down after being elected to represent Uxbridge in the House of Commons.
Galloway made the announcement on Twitter earlier today:
I’m standing for Mayor of London 2016. If you can help in any way, write to me at galloway4london@gmail.com pic.twitter.com/UDX0KMZ2VO

The controversial far-left leader was elected MP for Bradford West by a landslide in a 2012 by-election but lost the seat to Labour in last month’s General Election.
