WH Denies Claim Jarrett Talked Obama out of Bin Laden Mission

As I wrote yesterday, Richard Miniter’s new book “Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisers Who Decide for Him,” contains the bombshell allegation that Valerie Jarrett talked President Obama out of okaying the mission to kill Osama bin Laden three times before Obama finally signed off on it in May 2011.

Today, the White House is calling Miniter’s claim a farce, stating explicitly that Jarrett had “no role in planning the mission and that Obama didn’t stop planning the mission three times in 2011.” And Fox News has reported that Admiral Bill McCraven, Commander of US Special Operations Command, says he was “the only representative fromt JSOC at any of the meetings concerning Osama bin Laden and that the president’s support for the mission never wavered.”

Moreover, this morning, White House Deputy Press Sec. Josh Earnest even announced, “it’s pretty clear Mr. Miniter doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

But Miniter is standing firm on his sources and the information they provided him. Those sources include an “official affliated with the Joint Special Forces Command who had knowledge of the operation.”
