Boehner and McCarthy Question Obama's Resolve To Fight War on Terrorism

House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy praised President Obama for announcing his decision to take the threat posed by Islamic State terrorists seriously, but they questioned his resolve to fight a war on terrorism.

Boehner praised Obama for “finally begun to make the case” to the American people, calling the fight against ISIS “the highest priority for the United States.”

McCarthy explained that he supported Obama’s decision to take military action in Iraq and Syria, but called for Obama to commit to the war on terror.

“I support the President taking military action in Iraq and Syria to combat this organization.  I also support his request for additional authority to support the moderate, vetted Syrian opposition.  But more must be done,” McCarthy added.
